With the rising cost of gas in our society today, it is very important to learn how to find cheap gas prices in your
area. It is not hard to find cheap gas if you know where to look and Google is a great place to start. Keep in mind as you go through this tutorial that gas prices are very volatile and may change by the minute so it is important to get your gas prices just before it is time to fill up your gas tank. Nothing is more frustrating than to drive a bit out of the way for cheap gas, only to find that it is no longer cheap.

Gas stations throughout the country are competing with each other all the time. Many of the major gas stations are reporting gas prices on a daily basis in an effort to remain competitive. Many of these websites capitalize on this frenzy by condensing all the gas price information in one place.

Some of the better websites allow you to search gas prices by ZIP code. You simply punch in your zip code and it will report all the gas prices in your area that report their information. Some of the better-known and dependable gas price websites found on Google include:

There are a number of others out there but these three have consistently helped me find cheap gas prices easily. In particular, gasbuddy.com is outstanding and easy to use. These websites can also be quite useful if you are planning to go on vacation or trip and want to find cheap gas along the way.
Another way to use Google to find cheap gas prices is to set up a Google alert for the search term "gas prices in
(insert your city here)" and Google will alert you with updates. While this is quite convenient, it does not catch all of the gas prices as well as the websites do. Google does however, make it quite easy to set up these alerts for cheap gas prices in your area. You never know when you might pop open a Google alert with a great gas price, and it only takes a moment to set up.

As you can see, finding cheap gas prices is not as tough as it used to be. With the use of the Internet, along with search engines like Google, we can at least minimize the rising cost of gas as much as possible.
